Caring for your dying Pet

One of the most difficult things for many pet parents, is the realization that their beloved pet is nearing the end of their life on this earth. Years ago, the only choice a pet parent was given, was euthanasia in the event of terminal illness or aging which offered no hope for recovery.

Pet hospice palliate care, or animal hospice care is a growing practice for many pet parents who are choosing to offer unconditional love and care to their pets when facing the end of their life. Having offered this labor of love to my beloved pets, I can say it was one of the most rewarding experiences I can remember. It is indeed a labor of love.

When choosing to offer hospice palliative care for your pet, it is important to remember, that your goal is not to preserve life, but to keep your pet comfortable, offering a loving and nurturing environment, as you allow them to travel the spiritual journey that takes place during the end of life. You will caring for their nutritional needs, as well as keeping their bedding clean and odor free, and offering sponge baths to your pet during the final stages of the dying process. Often times, in the earlier stages, you will be assisting them on bathroom breaks to prevent falling, and as the end of life stages progress, lifting their heads to assist them with drinking water, and keeping them turned and repositioned throughout the day. The love you have for your pet will be your guide, as you learn to anticipate his or her needs, and find creative ways of meeting that need. You can find more information in the book Pet Hospice Care at Home, which is available through Amazon or through the website. I discovered that by offering palliative care for my beloved pets, not only were they happier as they approached the end of life, they were also so very grateful, and they showed this every single day. They were not ready to leave me, and I was not ready to let them go. Offering them hospice palliative care, I was able to express the unconditional love to them, that they had given me throughout the years, and we both had the opportunity to come to terms with the fact, that we would soon part, for just a time, until we would one day meet again. Pet hospice palliative care is a personal choice, and it is not for everyone. For those who would like to offer this labor of love to their beloved pets, there are several organizations, books, and websites which could offer you a wealth of information. You can visit Pethospicecareathome.com, or spiritsintransition.com Both of these sites have resources which will help you, as you embark upon your journey to offering pet hospice palliative care for your pet, when facing the end of life.

It was hard when your beloved dogs are sick, it's the kind of feeling that I dont think I can get used to, I always have a dog and when they died it really broke my heart, I had one dog that i was force to undergone Euthanasia and it took me years before I totally recovered from it, and since then I prayed that present pets won't lead me to that kind of decision again. My dog Peso has perineal hernia and survived six surgeries, in each surgery I always thought I can loss my dog, but he survived and still okey, I know he may survive hernia but not old age, I am still in denial stage but I really fear for those moment..I am willing to take care of him until his senior days, he is already a senior dog anyway, already 10 years last July this year. it's good to have other alternatives aside from mercy killing
